Media matters (no not Soros!)

According to All Access, it looks like a merger between Tribune and Nexstar may be happening.

And it not only means a bit of TV owner roulette, but it could have a massive affect in Connecticut and New York City.

Tribune owns the following TV stations in New York and the Hartford New Haven markets…

New York

WPIX (CW) 11

Hartford-New Haven

WCCT (CW) 20

WTIC (Fox) 61

According to All Access, Tegna, formerly Gannett, will acquire the two above stations from Tribune.

As for WPIX, in its 71-year history, it has had only one owner.  You may now say “WPIX New York, your SCRIPPS station.”  In fact, it reflects on its website.

Nexstar owns two stations in the Hartford-New Haven market; WTNH channel 8 (ABC) and WCTX channel 59 (MyNetwork), and will continue doing so.
