But there are reports out there saying the center of the storm is moving a bit further WEST, which could reduce the accumulations in the storm as a result of a mix with sleet and freezing rain.

Now it could snow three feet and not be a blizzard.  What makes a blizzard?

Jeff Smith at ABC 7 reports

1. Sustained wind or frequent gusts of 35mph or greater.

2. Considerable falling and/or blowing snow reducing visibility to under a quarter mile.

3. These conditions have to continue for at least three consecutive hours

Based on that criteria, the National Weather Service has issued the Blizzard warning for New York City, Long Island, parts of New Jersey, and Southern Connecticut.

AccuWeather is calling for 7-13 inches when all is said and done for Command Central.

WFSB in their tradition of naming major winter storm, names this Eugene.  Three’s policy this winter. CT sports stars and legends, including a winter storm Breanna for UCONN women’s hoops superstar Breanna Stewart.  The Eugene is Eugene Robinson.

Born in Hartford, he played collegiate football at Colgate University then went on to a 16-year NFL career playing for the Seahawks, Packers, Falcons and Panthers.

Needless to say, Eugene is going to blitz most of CT.
