Going SUPER viral

UPDATE:  Supergirl.TV is reporting there have been leaks of the 60 minute pilot on the web.  The site reports Variety.com (and other sites) are reporting it has leaked to torrent sites worldwide.   These outlets say there are two copies of the pilot available, one that is around 400MB but lacks the HD 1080p resolution, and a much larger file format that is HD ready. Further more, the leaked pilot is without any watermarks or “property of” warnings. The files became available Friday around 3am EST and as of 9:30am EST they have been downloaded over 120,000 times.

TO me this is PIRACY and denies the fans of the show it looks to develop a chance to see it according to when CBS and Warner Bros. brass said it would be made available.

Supergirl.TV offered this opinion.

This was a day I was really hoping wouldn’t come. I suppose in 2015, it would be impossible to expect something like “Supergirl” to stay on a shelf until November. Variety offered a great point of view in that sometimes pilots are leaked purposely from the network to increase buzz and future ratings. But like they also said, a leak this early doesn’t really seem to make sense. The trailer is almost up to 11 million views already. That far out performs other TV trailers online. The buzz about Supergirl is huge! Our email goes off every couple of minutes with a new news alert about another Supergirl story. It doesn’t make strategic sense to release the pilot purposefully now.
Ultimately the decision to download the show and watch it now will come to you. One of the hardest lessons to learn as a human is to delay gratification. This certainly falls into that category for us. We will NOT be downloading the pilot or watching it ahead of time. If CBS or WB were to come to us and allow us to watch the pilot in an official capacity so that we could write a review for you the fans, that would be amazing and we certainly would welcome the opportunity. But downloading it now seems cheap. This isn’t how we want to start our relationship with the show. So … should you go ahead a download the pilot and watch it now, know that this site has not seen it yet. We will continue to report the news on the show as it becomes available and we will strive to give you the best coverage possible, but inline with the wishes of the studio. I hope that our choice to wait until November is one that will support the show and will give us more episodes in the future.

The administrator of the site who made the comment is going about it in the right direction.  The site, a main source of anything and everything having to do with this TV show, is the only source I will use about this show.  Any pictures will get their attribution from SG.TV or any other site.

On the forum, some people weighed, many of them going in the way of this blogger.

i am absolutely disgusted that someone has gone ahead and done this. Like you I have been a fan of Supergirl for years and I would have gladly waited for it to come the air in the fall. I so want SG to be a success and fly but now it looks like this could destroy it. All the hard work Melissa, Chyler and all the crew did to make ruined. I feel terrible for Melissa this was to be her moment and for SG. Please can someone get the pirate copy offline? I really hope SG can come back from this.

I myself will watch in November like I had planned, not sure what the motivation was, to kill ratings when the pilot airs, maybe someone got $$$ for doing it. Its a shame people will do this.

Discretion being the better part of valor here, I WILL NOT watch the pilot until it is ready in some official capacity. There also is no telling what these files may contain. If they contain malware, spyware or viruses, that will lead to mass computer crashes. I’d like to know who leaked this pilot and to what websites was it leaked to?

I can only feel nothing but sadness to anger for Melissa Benoist, Calista Flockhart, as well as the crew of the show.  To the people who leaked this…JUSTICE MUST COME DOWN AND COME DOWN HARD ON YOU!

The buzz around the internet is continuing for CBS’ Supergirl TV show.  And the buzz is so big, the people at Supergirl.tv report people at a certain magazine are watching the trailer again…and again.

“Even Entertainment Weekly, a week later, is tweeting that they are still watching the trailer on repeat! That is an incredible response from the internet” the site said.

So just how many times has the over six minute trailer been seen?  Over 10 million…that’s TEN million.

One of the people who had a chance to see the trailer was blogger Jess Plummer.  The site interviewed him for his thoughts.  Here is a portion of the chat.

Supergirl.tv: As for the ending, did the pilot leave you with an understanding of the episode to episode plot? Is there an understanding of the larger series plot?

Jess Plummer: Yep, there’s a Big Bad and a plot device like the particle accelerator to generate Villains of the Week. [As for the larger plot] Ah, that’s where the spoilers come in… ;) I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

And upcoming fans of the show might want to read this…

Jess Plummer: I would say two really big twists that I didn’t see coming and that I liked a lot. I’d want people to know that it’s a really fun, optimistic show, and it’s very much about a woman making her own choices and about the relationships between women. I really think it’s what Supergirl fans want to see onscreen.

A double twist?  A fun optimistic show?  Uh, Melissa, your thoughts?

I thought so!
